Open data API

Static JSON and CSV files at fixed addresses, rebuilt with the site. No key or account is required, and the same data is on the dataset and county pages.

Endpoints

Base address: https://data4mt.itogeospatial.com/api/v1/. Paths below are relative to it.

index.jsonList of endpoints, with build time.
catalog.json84 datasets: publisher, cadence, last update, coverage, gaps, record count, fields, downloads, records per county.
datasets/<id>.jsonOne dataset’s metadata. The id is the dataset page’s file name, for example water-rights.
samples/<id>.jsonUp to 500 preview rows as {"cols": [...], "rows": [[...]]}.
csv/<id>.csvFull CSV for datasets that are small static files (listed under each dataset’s downloads).
counties.jsonSummary figures for 56 counties: parcels, acres public and private, LLC-owned share, absentee homes, ownership changes in the last 90 days by type, building projects, hearings, recorded documents, water rights.
counties/<slug>.jsonOne county’s full profile, including the latest changes, projects and coverage gaps. Slugs are lower-case with hyphens: lewis-and-clark.

Rules

Data 4 MT is an index of public records. It republishes only what Montana and federal agencies make public, with a link to the source on each record. People are shown as “Private individual” on public pages and downloads; companies, trusts held by institutions, and governments keep their names. No document images, sale prices, voter, MVD or wildlife-telemetry data are stored.

Data 4 MT is not a consumer reporting agency. Do not use this data for tenant, employment, credit or insurance screening, or for unsolicited contact where a source or MCA 2-6-1017 forbids it. Cascade County recorder data may not be used for solicitation.
